PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for a black-and-white silver halide photographic sensitive material by which the residual color of a spectrally sensitized black-and-white silver halide photographic sensitive material containing a sensitizing dye can be reduced when the silver halide photographic sensitive material is developed with a hydroquinone-free developing solution. SOLUTION: In the processing method for a black-and-white silver halide photographic sensitive material in which a spectrally sensitized black-and-white silver halide photographic sensitive material containing a sensitizing dye is processed using an automatic processing machine through developing, fixing, washing and drying steps, development is carried out with a developing solution not substantially containing a dihydroxybenzene developing agent and fixation is carried out with a fixing solution containing ethylene glycol and/or polyhydric alcohol.
