<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively apply smoothing to image data, even when the image data with high resolution are converted into the image data with low resolution and also apply image processing, such as edge enhancement and error spread to the image data. SOLUTION: A binary image data memory 10 stores image data that are read by a scanner 3 and stored in an image memory 9 as binary image data with high resolution, a discrimination circuit 11 segments the binary image data into matrices, each consisting of 2×2 pixels, assigns each matrix to one pixel, decides the density of the pixel depending on the number of white pixels in each matrix, and stores the result to a multi-value image memory 12 as multi-valued image data with low resolution.</p> |
