PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar patch antenna in which a desired resonance frequency can be obtained stably without requiring any troublesome frequency adjustment work. SOLUTION: On one surface of a dielectric substrate 1 obtained by sintering ceramic powder pressed into a desired shape, a groove 6 is made continuously along the inside of outer edge thereof, and a patch electrode 2 is formed by thick film printing on the entire surface of a region S sectioned by the groove 6. According to a planar patch antenna of such an arrangement, accuracy is enhanced at the time of thick film printing the patch electrode 2 depending on the machining accuracy of the groove 6. Furthermore, variation of resonance frequency fr incident to variation of dielectric constantεr and variation of resonance frequency fr incident to variation of area of the patch electrode 2 are cancelled each other. Consequently, a desired resonance frequency fr can be obtained stably regardless of dimensional variation of the sintered dielectric substrate 1.
