The invention relates to a system for representing the paint layer thickness distribution of a paint layer on the surface of an object, whereby a data processing device is provided that contains at least one data memory, in which simulated or measured data are stored that represent layer thicknesses at defined locations on the surface of the object. In addition, a defined location on the surface can be selected each time with a top view by using the mouse pointer of a computer mouse or of a similar pointing device of the data processing device.
