The connecting rod bearing shell for a connecting rod of titanium or titanium alloy has a supporting layer (8) of a steel material and a slide face (16) for the crankshaft. On the back of the support layer there is a coating of a tin-bronze material with a thickness of 10-50 micrometers. The tin-bronze material has a copper tin alloy. The slide face may be formed from a plated aluminum-tin or aluminum-zinc alloy. Independent claims are included for the use of a tin-bronze plated steel band for the manufacture of the proposed connecting rod bearing shell, and for a connecting rod made of titan or titanium alloy equipped with the bearing shell.
