The pneumatic cylinder, with a thermal lock, has a thermo-valve assembly with a sprung valve rod (9) which is released by heat. The rod has a piercing point (16) close to a pressure supply and preferably a CO2 bottle. The valve rod has a locking unit. The valve rod is offset laterally from the piston rod (6), to slide within at least one lateral drilling (10-12) in the cylinder head so that, when the valve rod is triggered, the lock is pressed against the piston rod to engage a ring-shaped groove.
