The drying press station for a wet web (1), of paper or cardboard or tissue, carries the web through the roller press gap (2) between two continuous absorbent and hydrophilic belts (3,4). The belts are dried outside the zone where they carry the web. The wet web drying press station carries at least one of the belts over a heated surface or through a heated air stream or past at least one infra red heater (5) or it is exposed to microwaves, to dry it. The web is carried continuously through the drying press by at least one belt. An Independent claim is included for the application of a web drying press station in the production and/or finishing of a web of paper, cardboard or tissue. On entering the drying press, the web has a dry matter content of 50-55% and has /-60% on leaving the drying press. A further Independent claim is included for a web drying press, with absorbent and hydrophilic continuous belts to carry the web through at least one extended press gap between them. Preferred Features: The extended press gap is formed by rollers (6,7) and/or press belts. Outside the press gap, the belts pass through a drying station (9) and preferably also a cleaning station (8). There are preferably several belt drying stations, and the belt can pass a number of times around a heated cylinder (10). The belt drying station can have a microwave transmitter.
