A Gallileic thermometer comprises a gas-tight transparent container filled with a transparent liquid, with a gas volume above it. The unit has an analogue temperature display and a solid member is located in the liquid and has a flexible element attached to it. The free end of the flexible element (1) is attached to a float (2), and the difference between float buoyancy and weight is greater than that of the flexible element in the liquid (3). The liquid level is higher than the flexible element length.
