<p>Process and equipment for separating fat from waste water and reducing the amount of fat that has to be taken care of from restaurants, bakeries, food industries etc. While wastewater is added the equipment functions as a conventional fat separator, i.e. collects and accumulates fat. When the daily shutdown begins the equipment is converted to a bioreactor. In this bioreactor the accumulated fat is remixed with water and broken down biologically with the aid of microorganisms, which break down fat, proteins, starch etc. The microorganisms are added as a liquid culture of living organisms. Co-ordination of air injection and addition of the liquid culture achieve even distribution of microorganisms. The bioreactor function is sustained by air injection and ceases when the air injection is shut off. Equipment for converting a conventional fat separator to a fat separator/bio-reactor is described.</p> |
