The engine includes a cylinder (7) with a reciprocating piston and a combustion chamber, a crankcase connected to the cylinder and provided with rotating crankshaft, and a catalytic converter (10). The piston is connected to the crankshaft by a connecting rod. The engine is also provided with an outlet (29) for conducting oxygen rich (16) and oxygen poor (18) exhaust gases away from the combustion chamber, and two sets of gas supplying channels for supplying air/fuel mixture and oxygen rich gas to the combustion chamber. The engine exhaust gas muffler has a housing (3) whose inlet (6) matches the engine outlet (29). The muffler is provided with structure (15) for temporary storage of the oxygen rich exhaust gases.
