<p>The present invention relates to a method for cleaning a clogged or contaminated spray nozzle (10) or the filter (14) of such a spray nozzle used in coating a web of paper or paperboard. Herein, into at least of portion of the coating mix flow channel (24) of the spray nozzle (10) to be cleaned is formed a cleaning medium flow running reverse to the normal flow direction of the coating mix.
