PURPOSE: A liquid crystal driver and liquid crystal display incorporating the same are provided to prevent a driving waveform from rounding without installing an output circuit to a liquid crystal panel in at each output terminal, thereby realizing a miniaturization and a low power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A standard voltage generator circuit(7) produces 2 tone display voltages from two or more incoming reference voltages in accordance with n-bit display data. The D/A converter circuit forms selecting means for selecting a voltage from the 2 tone display voltages produced by the standard voltage generator circuit(7) in accordance with incoming display data and directly supplying the selected voltage to the liquid crystal panel through the output terminals. Assume here that there exist seven reference voltages V'0, V'8, V'16, V'24, V'40, V'56, V'64. The standard voltage generator circuit(7) has halftone voltage input terminals T0, T8, T16, T24, T40, T56, T64 for the seven reference voltages respectively. The standard voltage generator circuit(7) differs from a conventional standard voltage generator circuit in that the former lacks halftone voltage input terminals for the reference voltages V'32, V'48. The standard voltage generator circuit(7) further includes a generation circuit(11), buffer circuits(12,13) and a resistance divider circuit(14).
