PURPOSE: An automatic continuously variable transmission using tension change of a chain is provided to apply the automatic continuously transmission to a bicycle or a motorcycle. CONSTITUTION: Coupling of sub chain gears(10) and drive links(5,6) are formed in plurality. The plural couplings are coupled to circular links(2,8) and a shaft holder(1) by plural connecting links(3,7) and interlocked. The shaft holder and the drive link(5) have each projection for fixing(1a,5c) to constrain the rotating range of the drive links(5,6) and the drive link(6) has a projection for fixing to constrain the rotating range of a ratchet(9). The ratchet prevents the sub chain gear from rotating in the direction of power transmission. A spring(12) restores the position of the ratchet. A tension spring(11) changes the diameter of pitch circles made by the sub chain gears according to the tension change of the chain.
