A sulfopozzolanically reactive bituminous coal fly ash contains, in wt. %, 5-50 combined sulphate as SO3 (alkali earth metal oxide combined with Al2O3 and CaSO4) and 0.5-30 alkali earth metal oxide with the ratio uncombined to combined alkali earth metal oxide being 0.2-3:1. The sulphate is pref. one which reacts with water to form either 3MO-Al2O3-MSO412-13H2O or 3MO-Al2O3-3MSO430-32H2O where M is Ca or Mg. The fly ash may be made by injecting lime into the combustion chamber of a heater at 1500-2000 degrees F and may be mixed with 5-92% aggregate mortar, and concrete for roads.
|
