[Class 140] An expansible die assembly for use in coating rectangular wires with enamel or the like comprises two pairs of oppositely disposed die members 21, 23, 22, 24 yieldingly held together about a wire to be coated. The members 22, 24 are formed with tongues which are placed in grooves 25, 26 in the other pair. The two members of each pair are urged toward each other by a C-spring engaging holes such as 38, 39 in the outer faces of the members. Ribs 34 engage the wire. The assembly is supported by wires engaging holes 41 and pivoted to a U-shaped member swivelled to a fixed part of the coating apparatus.
