Fused heterocyclic compounds of formula (I): <CHEM> wherein X is benzimidazolyl which is optionally substituted with 1 to 5 substituents selected from Group A; Y is an oxygen or sulfur atom; Z is 2,4-dioxothiazolidin-5-ylmethyl or the like; R is hydrogen or the like; m is an integer from 1 to 5; and Group A is alkyl or the like; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are useful as therapeutic or prophylactic agents for cancer.
