METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING LOW VOLTAGE MELF TYPE VARISTOR-CAPACITOR MULTIFUNCTIONAL DEVICE

PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a low voltage MELF(metal electrode face bonding device) type varistor-capacitor multifunctional device is provided to reduce cost, mount to a PCB without leads or packaging, and simultaneously obtain varistor characteristic and capacitor characteristic. CONSTITUTION: A low voltage MELF type varistor-capacitor multifunctional device is manufactured by using Sr0.9Ca0.1TiO3 as basic material powder. The basic material powder is subjected to wet milling for 24 hours after Nb2O5 of 0.4-0.6 mol% is added. The basic material powder is calcined at 1100°C for 2 hours after wet ball milling. After adding MnO of 0.2mol% and SiO2 of 0.2mol% to the calcined material, the calcined material is subjected to wet ball milling for 24 hours. Then, organic vehicle is mixed to form slurry. The slurry is molded as a pipe by a dice. The pipe is sintered in a reduction furnace for 4 hours. The sintered sample is re-oxidized in a furnace with the air at 800°C. On the re-oxidized sample, outer electrodes are formed by thermally processing Ag electrodes at 600°C for 10 minutes.
