PURPOSE: A device for detecting power failure of refrigerator is provided to detect power failure by widening time lag between an ascent edge and a descent edge. CONSTITUTION: A device comprises a transformer(1); a half-wave rectifying part(10); a pulse generator(3); and a micro computer(4). The transformer receives utility alternating current power on a first side thereof to excite a second side thereof with voltage corresponding with winding ratio. The half-wave rectifying part receives voltage generated in the transformer for half-wave rectification. The pulse generator receives output signal of the half-wave rectifying part to generate corresponding pulse. The micro computer receives pulse signal of the pulse generator to detect whether power fails by time lag between an ascent edge and a descent edge of the pulse.
