摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for capturing and perceiving the iris image are provided to perceive quickly and exactly the unique features of the iris by capturing the distinct iris image while minimizing the rejection of a user. CONSTITUTION: When the user tries the approach for the iris perception, an infrared body image passed through a cold mirror(14) is focused an optical infrared camera(3) on after working a low-lux infrared light board(1) through a light board driver(16). The infrared body image is transferred to a recognizer(PC), which extracts the position data of eyes from the body image. After calculating the pan/tilt angle of the camera, the recognizer sends a pan/tilt control signal to an electric pan/tilt device(5). An electric infrared zoom/focus camera(4) gets the infrared eye image passed through the cold mirror. The infrared eye image is transferred to the recognizer, which measures the size of the iris area from the infrared eye image and calculates the zoom/focus of the camera. The recognizer sends a zoom/focus control signal to the electric infrared zoom/focus camera, which regulates a zoom and focus until the optimum size of the iris perception is measured. When the electric infrared zoom/focus camera measures the optimum size of the iris perception, the recognizer turns off the low-lux infrared light board by stopping the light board driver. Also, the recognizer captures the iris image from the electric infrared zoom/focus camera while working an infrared strobe light board(2) by sending a strobe signal to a strobe driver. Finally, the recognizer performs the iris perception by using the captured iris image, and sends the perception result to an external display driver. The perception result is shown through an external display.
