APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY COOLING STRIP BY USING COOLING TOWER

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for automatically cooling a strip by using a cooling tower are provided which always produce mini spangle and zero spangle galvanized steel sheets having a constant quality by appropriately positioning a cooling tower so that a temperature of a strip sensed conforms to a preset standard value. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus cooling a strip passing through a galvanizing tank by controlling a position of a cooling tower(110) spraying a phosphate solution in galvanizing treatment facilities, the apparatus for automatically cooling the strip by using the cooling tower comprises temperature detectors(10) each of which are arranged in the front and back sides of the cooling tower(110) so as to detect temperatures of the surface of the strip(S); and a cooling tower position detector(35) for detecting a position of the cooling tower(110), wherein the strip(S) is cooled by moving a position of the cooling tower(110) to a predetermined standardized position based on the detected temperatures of the strip(S). In an automatic strip cooling method using a cooling tower(110) cooling the strip by spraying a phosphate solution onto a strip passing through a galvanizing tank in galvanizing treatment facilities, the method automatically cooling the strip by using the cooling tower comprises the steps of detecting temperatures of the surface of the strip(S) in the front and back sides of the cooling tower(110); and cooling the strip(S) by spraying phosphate onto the strip(S) after moving a position of the cooling tower(110) to a predetermined standardized position based on the detected temperatures of the strip(S).
