PURPOSE: A method for transmitting length identifier(LI) of a protocol data unit is provided, which prevents unnecessary transmission without attaching length identifier while one octet lacks in a PDU(Protocol Data Unit) succeeded to the next PDU, in case that length identifier indicating an end of an SDU(Service Data Unit) and length identifier indicating padding are contained in the corresponding PDU. CONSTITUTION: According to the method having length identifier(LI) and transmitting service data unit to a receiver in a protocol data unit of a radio link control layer, it is judged whether an end of the service data unit lacks one octet from a configuration of the protocol data unit. When the end of the service data unit lacks one octet, it is judged whether there is a length identifier informing a corresponding protocol data unit of padding. If there is a length identifier informing the corresponding protocol data unit of padding, a length identifier informing that the former protocol data unit lacks one octet is not attached to the next protocol data unit.
