PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for suppressing the propagation of noxious lichenous plants by which the method is safe for useful lichenous plants such as turf and the propagation of the noxious lichenous plants such as mosses or algae near soil is surely suppressed for a long period while gradually exhibiting effects. SOLUTION: A soil conditioner prepared by impregnating a porous powdery or a granular material with a liquid chemical capable of suppressing the raising of the noxious lichenous plants, drying the impregnated chemical and thereby fixing the chemical in pores is used to thereby throw down or scatter the soil conditioner near the soil of the useful lichenous plants. As a result, the chemical is eluted from the soil conditioner by water sprinkling or rainwater.
