PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support for the production of an optical fiber having high purity, excellent heat and load resistances and workability and capable of stably supporting a preform for an optical fiber and a rod. SOLUTION: The support for the production of an optical fiber used in a rod producing step in which a preform for the optical fiber is heated and drawn and/or a wire drawing step in which the resulting rod is drawn, is obtained by joining two or more columnar members made of a carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite material in series with screw parts.
