PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of wave-like swelling in a sheet being carried, and to avoid wrinkling in a subsequent printing process. SOLUTION: A paper sheet carrier is disposed before a printing drum 2 and a press roll 3. The paper sheet carrier comprises an upper guide plate 8 and a lower guide plate 9 with holes formed therein. An upper roll 12 and a lower roll 13 are fitted in each hole. A press roller 30 for pressing the paper sheet discharged between the upper and lower guide plates against an upper surface of the lower guide plate is disposed on the downstream side of the upper roll 12 in the carrying direction of the printing paper sheet. During the printing, the printing paper sheet 1 discharged between the two rolls 12 and 13 is pressed by the press roller 30 to prevent generation of any swell. No wrinkles are generated in the printing paper sheet when printing is performed by holding the paper sheet by the printing drum and the press roll in the subsequent process.
