PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hypoglycemic agent containing an extract of a vegetable having little side effects as an active component. SOLUTION: This hypoglycemic agent contains an organic solvent or a water extract, especially a hot-water extract of Kinsenren (Anoectochilus formosanum Hay.) as an active component. The hypoglycemic agent is proved to have excellent effect on lowering the blood sugar level from the results in glucose tolerance test and sugar level depressing test and is useful for the prevention and treatment of diabetes. |
