PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production by which cyclopentadiene can be reacted with a 3C or a 4C acyclic olefin to provide bicyclo[2.2.1]heptenes in high selectivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the bicyclo[2.2.1]heptenes comprises carrying out a reaction under conditions of the 3C or 4C acyclic olefin or the cyclopentadiene in the vapor phase or the supercritical state in the method for producing the bicyclo[2.2.1]heptenes represented by the following general formula (I) (wherein, R1 and R2 denote each hydrogen atom, methyl group or ethyl group; and the sum of the number of carbon atoms in R1 and R2 is 1 or 2) comprising reacting the 3C or 4C acyclic olefin with the cyclopentadiene.
