A process for automatic monitoring of aircraft during take-off or landing. B y means of one or more monitoring instruments (30) installed in the vicinity of an airport sho ts are taken of the aircraft during take-off or landing. These recorded images are stored in a data memory (32). Means (29) are present which enable the monitoring instrument (30) to detect the aircraft (1) and to follow the movement of the aircraft (1). The recorded images are stor ed in the data memory (32) for later evaluation.
