METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a gas containing at least one kind to be selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide under mild conditions not to cause the corrosion of the material of a reaction vessel or the deterioration of a catalyst which can inhibit the generation of harmful nitrogen oxides, and an apparatus for producing a gas which is suited in carrying out the production method. SOLUTION: The method for producing a gas containing at least one selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methane and carbon monoxide has a step of gasifying at least part of a fossil fuel in the presence of steam in the supercritical state or in the subcritical state of carbon dioxide. The apparatus for producing the gas enables the gasification of part of a fossil fuel under the above conditions.
