PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic wave transmitting/receiving method capable of obtaining images with excellent space resolution. SOLUTION: This method is provided with a step of transmitting ultrasonic waves which are continuous for more than two cycles to a subject 10, a step of detecting echo generated by reflection of transmitted ultrasonic waves in a tissue of the subject using an ultrasonic probe 20 including an ultrasonic transducer 21 formed of plural electrodes 22a, 22b, etc., and plural piezoelectric elements 23a, 23b, etc., alternately laminated with each other in the receiving direction, as a step for obtaining basic wave components in thickness resonance in the ultrasonic transducer based on output voltages of at least two electrodes in the plural electrodes, and a step of obtaining image information related to the tissue of the subject based on the basic wave components.
