PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate by reaction between (meth)acrylic acid and an alkylene oxide so as to enable unreacted alkylene oxide to be economically and efficiently recovered for reuse. SOLUTION: This method for producing a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate comprises a process wherein (meth)acrylic acid is reacted with an alkylene oxide and unreacted alkylene oxide in the reaction liquid is diffused and absorbed in a solvent; wherein this method is characterized by involving using water as the absorbing solvent and using the resultant unreacted alkylene oxide- absorbed solvent for producing the corresponding alkylene glycol.
