PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow every body to easily manufacture an article of mother-of- pearl work without forming a pattern dented part having a uniform depth and a mother-of-pearl member, which can be laid with no gap into the pattern dented part. SOLUTION: After a face-like member 3, which forms a design by predetermined characters, figures or symbols and their combination, is temporarily pasted from one face 2a side of a colored transparent or a colorless transparent mother-of-pearl work pasting member main body 2, colored coating 4 is coated from the one face 2a side. Then, by pasting a mother-of-pearl member 7, which is formed in the shape of a face in order to cover some part or the whole of one face part 5, which is formed with no coating applied on the one face 2a side by separating the face-like member 3, through a bonding means to the one face 2a side, an article of mother-of-pearl work is manufactured.
