METHOD FOR TREATING ORGANIC WASTEWATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for treating organic wastewater, capable of markedly reducing the generation amount of excessive sludge generated accompanied by the biological treatment of organic wastewater. SOLUTION: In the method for treating organic wastewater by biologically treating organic wastewater and subjecting the obtained biologically treated mixture to solid-liquid treatment and applying solubilizing treatment to the separated sludge to solubilize organic matter contained in the sludge and returning the treated sludge to a biological treatment tank, (a) the solubilizing treatment is performed as specific treatment wherein definite other treatment is combined with treatment using an alkali agent or (b) the concentrated sludge component phase obtained by the solid-liquid separation treatment of sludge subjected to solubilizing treatment is repeatedly circulated to be subjected to solubilizing treatment or both of the treatments (a) and (b) are performed.
