PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping device and a washing machine capable of inhibiting impact caused by vibration generated from a vibration source, and reducing vibration on a floor surface and noise. SOLUTION: The damping device is provided with a hollow cylinder 132, a piston 133 capable of sliding inside the cylinder 132 with a specified friction coefficient, and a piston rod 131 moving inside the cylinder 132 by receiving vibration. The piston 132 is supported from both sides thereof by a brim part 131a of the piston rod 131 and a washer 135 in conjunction with elastic bodies 134a and 134b.
