PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for preventing attachment of fouling organisms by utilizing an existing chemical substance. SOLUTION: This method for preventing the attachment of the fouling organisms is characterized by forming a layer comprising a polyvinyl alcohol on the surface of a member in which the attachment of the fouling organisms is presumed and preventing the attachment of the fouling organisms to the member with the layer.
