PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a signal and also a railroad crossing with a single intermediate block instrument. SOLUTION: The intermediate block instrument arranged in a block section delimited between stations comprises transmission cables laid between the stations to transmit given signals, signal-control signal sampling means for sampling a control signal for a signal related to the block section from the transmission cables, signal control means for drive-controlling the signal related to the block section on the basis of the sampled signal-control signal, crossing- control signal sampling means for sampling a control signal for a railroad crossing related to the block section from the transmission cables, and crossing control means for drive-controlling the railroad crossing related to the block section on the basis of the sampled crossing-control signal.
