PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crushed algal matter-containing powder composition capable of maintaining free algae-derived carotenoids in a stable condition by crushing carotenoid-containing algae, and to provide a method for producing the powder composition. SOLUTION: This crushed algal matter-containing powder composition capable of maintaining free algae-derived carotenoids in a stable condition is obtained by crushing carotenoid-containing algae. The method for producing the powder composition is provided as described above. The powder thus obtained is stable and easy to handle, and does not adhere to vessels.
