SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises a card loading slot 313 for detachably loading a memory card 402 that information can be read and/or written therefrom and/or thereto by using electromagnetic coupling, a memory card detection sensor 400 for detecting whether or not the memory card 402 is adequately loaded to the card loading slot 313 and a card reader/ writer that reads and/or writers the information from and/or to the memory card 402 via an antenna 401 only when the memory card 402 is detected by the memory card detection sensor 400.
