PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasion resistant reverse reflective composite material having a clear coating, in which both damage for reverse reflective beads and the loss thereof are prevented and further e.g. light irradiated from an approaching vehicle is allowed to collide with the beads and is backward reflected toward the vehicle without interferance. SOLUTION: The method for preparing the composite material on the surface of a substrate comprises such processes that (1) a first coating composition of at least one containing a pigment, a binding polymer and water is applied on the surface of the substrate, (2) a clear coating composition of at least one containing the binding polymer and water is applied on the surface applied by the first coating composition, (3) reflective beads are applied at the same time as at least one of the processes (1) or (2) at the nearly same time, and (4) the composition is dried. |
