PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction utensil for a vacuum cleaner which can efficiently clean respective cleaning surfaces by forming a brush body constituted of a brush group having lengths which are respectively suitable for either case of a floor surface or a carpet surface, and a vacuum cleaner using this suction utensil. SOLUTION: A rotatable agitator 19 is internally provided, and the agitator 19 is formed of a rotating element 20, and the brush body 23 which is provided in the longitudinal direction on the periphery of the rotating element 20. The brush body 23 has a bristle wherein the diameter of the approximately distal end is thicker than other section. When the brush body hits a cleaning surface, elasticity is provided, and by the hitting effect, an effect to stir up dust and dirt can be added. Thus, the dust collecting performance can be increased.
