A container assembly (10) is provided for storing degassed ink used in a process for filling an inkjet cartridge. The container assembly includes a container (12) having a cavity for storing the degassed ink. A first quick-connect coupling (60) allows the container to be connected to associated filling equipment in an air tight manner. A second quick-connect coupling (40) provides connection with an associated vacuum pump of external degassing equipment. A vent opening (70) is provided in the container and is selectively sealed to maintain a vacuum envionment except during the filling process where the vent opening must be exposed to ambient.
