PURPOSE: A water purifier is provided which solves freezing problems of a cold water extraction pipe in a cold water tank due to repetition of switching on and off(so-called "hunting") of the cooling system by adding an "S" character shaped trap to a suction pipe connecting the cold water tank with a compressor. CONSTITUTION: In a water purifier with a suction pipe connected to a compressor and a cold water tank, the water purifier is equipped with an "S" character shaped suction pipe so as to prevent freezing phenomena of a cold water extraction pipe due to hunting phenomena occurred as a cooling system of the water purifier is switched on and off during a short period of time interval, wherein operation of the compressor is stopped resulting in stopping of the cooling system of the water purifier when a temperature of a heat sensitive part of a thermostat(20) of the cooling system in case that a temperature of the cold water tank(28) is lowered to a certain temperature or less, a gas phase refrigerant having a relatively high temperature in the compressor is ascended along the suction pipe(30) by density difference right after stopping of the compressor so that a refrigerant having a relatively high temperature is collected at an A part of the suction pipe(30) while a refrigerant having a relatively low temperature is collected at a B part of the suction pipe(30), a freezing air current flowing along the inner wall of the upper part of the suction pipe(the upper part of a suction pipe B) is collected at the B part blocking convection of the refrigerant after stopping of the cooling system, and the "S" character shaped suction pipe restrains heat transfer from the compressor to the utmost right after stopping of the cooling system, thereby preventing hunting phenomena in the cooling system of the water purifier so that the cooling system is steadily operated.
