FLAME RETARDANT COMPOSITION CONTAINING NANOCLAY AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Provided are a composition which impart fire retardancy to a final resin while retaining stable physical property of the resin without using harmful halogen, and a method for producing the same. CONSTITUTION: The composition comprises 80-99 parts by weight of phosphorus compound which does not contain halogen, 1-20 parts by weight of layered silicate having a reduced polarity by treatment with modifying agent. The composition is produced by the steps of (i) treating layered silicate with modifying agent to reduce its polarity; (ii) mixing 80-99 parts by weight of phosphorus compound(which does not contain halogen) with 1-20 parts by weight of the treated layered silicate; and (iii) intercalating the mixture at the temperature of 120-180 deg.C under atmospheric pressure and vacuum.
