PURPOSE: A method and system for determining a receipt operation mode by the program download of a communication system is provided to download a program for operating a DSP(Digital Signal Processor) and operate the DSP in an operation mode suitable for a signal type. CONSTITUTION: For composing a signal receiving unit(200) used in a switch or a communication equipment, a DSP and a ROM in which a DSP program is executed are composed. A main control unit(101) downloads the DSP program. The signal receiving unit(200) receives the DSP program and is executed in an operation suitable for signal types 1-4.
