PURPOSE: A heat pump system is provided to utilize heat source in an efficient manner, while simplifying structure and reduce installation area by allowing a single system to perform both heating function and cooling function. CONSTITUTION: A basic refrigerant circuit(1) is formed by connecting in sequence a compressor(2), a four-way valve(3), a first heat exchanger(4), expansion valves(5,6), a second heat exchanger(7) and the four-way valve, through conduit tubes(8a to 8d). The four-way valve and the compressor are interconnected through an inlet conduit tube(9). A liquid receiver and separator(10) is equipped with a liquid receiver(11) and a liquid separator(12). The liquid receiver is connected to the conduit tube(8c), and the liquid separator is connected to the inlet conduit tube. A plurality of heat pipes(13) are installed to the liquid receiver and separator, in such a manner that an evaporating section of the heat pipes is arranged to the liquid receiver and a condensing section of the heat pipes is arranged to the liquid separator.
