Disclosed is a method for removing carbon dioxide from fermenting medium. The method includes the steps of transferring a portion of the fermenting beer to a membrane contactor comprising at least one polymeric membrane having a gas side and a liquid side, wherein carbon dioxide present in the wort transfers from the liquid side of the membrane to the gas side of the membrane.
