A stopper, for a storage battery, has a liquid-impermeable and gas-permeable body allowing gas exchange and has an aerosol separator (3) between the body (2) and the gas space above the electrolyte. Preferably, the body (2) is a membrane made of polypropylene, polyethylene, polytetrafluoroethylene or polyvinylidene fluoride. Also claimed are a storage battery and a lead accumulator equipped with the above stopper. Preferably, the membrane (2) consists of stretched microporous PTFE and has a pore size of NOTGREATER 1 (especially NOTGREATER 0.45) mu , a porosity of≥50 (especially≥70)% and a thickness of NOTGREATER 20 (especially NOTGREATER 5) mu . The membrane may be made oil repellant and may be laminated onto a backing material, preferably in the form of non-woven or woven fabric, knitted fabric, a perforated plate or a netting. |
