Steel reinforced plastic filters - in plate form, for use in filter presses

High compressive strength, low elasticity plastic, with or without filler or glass fibres, is moulded together with a core of a different material around steel armouring esp. in the form of elongated rails joined by cross bars to form a grill or of perforated sheet with the largest possible perforations. The armouring is so embedded that the finished filter plate is both significantly stronger than those of rubber reinforced with wire mesh and is esp. stiff in bending. The steel is prestressed in the direction of loading and has claws on its surfaces to improve the adhesion of the plastic carrier material. The steel armouring may be integrated into the form of a cage by welding, screwing etc.
