The invention concerns a dishwasher with a tub holding a top and bottom dish rack whose open front can be closed with a door or gate, and the bottom dish rack can be removed from the tub. Simple and effective childproofing is attained when th e bottom dish rack inserted in the tub is kept from being removed by means of a holde r but it can be moved between an inserted position and withdrawn position, and the bottom dish rack can only be removed from the tub after the holder is released or removed.
