The device includes a casing (4) having an electronic unit, the pressure sensor, an inertial contact and a battery block (5) fixed about the wheel rim (1) by two collars (2, 3). The pressure sensor is open if the pressure is at the right value. When the wheel rotates, the contact is closed and current flows to the sensor. If the pressure is low the sensor closes the circuit and the electronic unit sends a signal to a unit in the driver's cabin, which sounds an alarm or lights up a warning light.
