MERCHANDISE INFORMATION PROVIDING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a merchandise information providing system which enables a user to open the homepage of a maker without inputting the URL with keys since the URL consists of alphanumeric characters and symbols and it is very troublesome for the user who is unfamiliar with a computer to accurately type the URL in a browser picture although URLs are frequently entered into advertisements and merchandise catalogs. SOLUTION: A bar code 3a printed on a merchandise catalog 3 is read by a bar code reader 2 connected to a user's terminal device 1 and the read bar code information is sent to a merchandise information center 4. The merchandise information center 4 performs retrieval from a URL information database 4b according to the received bar code information to take the URL information of the maker out, and then sends it to the terminal device 1. The terminal device 1 opens the homepage of the maker according to the received URL information.
